Ladies and Gentlemen... Jeff Michelman
With a legal career spanning over 20 years, Jeff Michelman
first began working at KangaRoos USA in the early 1980's.
There he managed the company's sports star licensing, music
videos, trademarks, patents and litigation.
It wasn't long before individual entertainers heard about
his combined expertise and ethical standards. As an Entertainment Attorney Jeff has represented hip hop sensation
Nelly, recording group Hanson, actress Neve
Campbell, as well as Academy Award nominated producer
Buzz Hirsch (Silkwood, 1983.) Recently Jeff represented oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and new hip hop sensation Yung Spiffy. Jeff's client list also
includes several reality TV show celebrities. For these clients
and many others, he negotiates everything from contracts related
to movie options, books, and magazine articles, to music rights,
software, and video/CD production and distribution.
As an Adjunct Professor of entertainment law at St. Louis University School of Law, and formerly adjunct professor of "Entertainment Law Planning and Drafting" at Washington University School of Law, Jeff is able to further
his love of teaching. He has a Juris Doctorate with honors
from Villanova University School of Law, a Masters of Engineering
from Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Penn
State.
When he isn't visiting family in Los Angeles or attending
movie premiers and Hollywood award shows, this published author
can be found writing. He has penned The Sherlock Holmes
Monographs and Peanut Butter on a Bagel or Breast
(Morrison Publishing, 2001.) Currently, he is writing a Hollywood-themed
thriller tentatively titled Reality Kills and a seriocomic
book titled The Love Lawyer.
